Over the years the U3A International Reading Circle has enjoyed a hugely enjoyable and interactive reading experience. The purpose was, and remains, to become acquainted with worldwide authors, primarily focusing on fiction. Each month from October to May, group members choose a book from the prescribed list that he or she would like to present to the group for discussion. At the meeting the member gives the group short details about the author, what the story is about, how is it told, what the presenter  liked and learned from the story as well as the style of the book. From then on the members of the group express their opinion and feelings, whether they liked it or not – and their reasons.  Opinions will be given on whether the characters were real and vivid enough, whether the story is believable, what does the writer wished to convey and whether members would read another book by the same author?

At the end of  the last session in order to enable the organiser to compile a list for the following season group members suggest two books for the following season and their reasons.
