LA CRUZ DE JUANAR
A challenging walk to the peak of the mountain, la Cruz de Juanar (1.070 m). On a clear day there are fabulous views from the summit across to North Africa. It is also often possible to see the snow-capped Sierra Nevada mountains to the east.
Medium to Heavy
ALHAURÍN EL GRANDE – FUENTE DEL ACEBUCHE
The walk starts by following the Camino Forestal into the pine forest and up to the Fuente del Acebuche (wild olive spring) eventually leading to the Forest Guard’s house where there is a stop to admire the spectacular views of the Guadalhorce Valley.
MARBELLA – CASCADA LOOP
This is a varied terrain walk which takes in great views across the coast. There will be steep paths and ridges to climb. The route will lead to the Mirador del Gitanos. During wet periods there may be some streams to cross.
Medium to Heavy
MARBELLA – ERMITA DE LOS MONJES
This walk climbs through a forest alongside a mountain stream to the ruined Ermita de los Monjes. It then emerges from the forest with great views of Marbella, Puerto Banús and across to Gibraltar and North Africa on a clear day. The walk involves some climbing over rocks whilst crossing streams, particularly near the start.
PIZARRA – EL SANTO
The walk begins in the town of Pizarra and follows the track of the Romeria up to the El Santo monument on the top of the hill overlooking the town. There are spectacular views from here.
TOLOX – CASCADA LA REJIA
This is a new walk up to the spectacular Cascada La Rejia in the hills above Tolox.
A country walk in the same area of Tolox will be taking place on the same day so there will be an opportunity for walkers from both groups to meet up for pre-Christmas refreshments in the Venta Umami after the walk.
